In 2025, Medisolve chose to support Médecins Sans Frontières by contributing to the work of the Khost Maternity Hospital in Afghanistan—a vital healthcare facility for women and newborns in one of the country’s poorest and most complex provinces.
Access to healthcare in Khost is extremely limited, and childbirth remains a high-risk experience for many women. Economic hardship, long distances to medical facilities and restrictions on women’s freedom make an already vulnerable situation even more challenging—one in which receiving medical care can mean the difference between life and death.
Against this backdrop, the Médecins Sans Frontières Khost Maternity Hospital has long provided a safe and essential point of reference for hundreds of thousands of people, offering qualified care to women throughout pregnancy and childbirth, as well as during neonatal emergencies.
During 2025, our support for the project contributed to delivering tangible results. The hospital assisted an average of 1,817 births each month, 23% more than in 2024. Nearly 25,000 pregnant women underwent nutritional screening, while eight healthcare centres across the province were strengthened, enabling more women to receive assistance before having to undertake long journeys to reach the hospital.
Behind these figures are the stories of women, mothers and newborns who were able to access essential care at one of the most critical moments of their lives. Stories such as that of Laila, who travelled more than 100 kilometres to reach the MSF hospital in Khost, where she was able to give birth safely and free of charge.
The value of this project also lies in the work of the Afghan professionals who provide care to other women every day. More than 70% of the staff who make the hospital’s work possible are Afghan women. Despite the restrictions and the context difficulties, these local professionals continue to play an essential role in caring for, listening to and supporting patients.
For Medisolve, supporting this project means giving tangible expression to a principle that guides the way the Group operates: caring for those who care for others. This commitment goes beyond a statement of intent. It translates into practical support for the medical and humanitarian work of Médecins Sans Frontières, helping to provide essential equipment, medicines and care in places where access to healthcare is most vulnerable.
The partnership with Médecins Sans Frontières therefore represents a shared journey built on responsibility, care and tangible impact. A project centred on protecting health, recognising the value of every individual and understanding that, even in the most challenging circumstances, caring for others can change the course of a life.
